A few weeks ago my bike died for some reason. so yesterday i found out to my surprise that one of my valves broke off and put a hole in/lodged itself into my piston. I was wondering if anybody had any idea where i could find the cheapest pistons and valves for replacement. I want to put something aftermarket in there, mainly for the valves, so this doesnt happen again.

 

You need to look at the head to, that will be the wallet killer.
just for interest how many mile has your bike done?

 

No head and/or cylinder damage?

 

If you don't want it to happen again i would be looking in to what caused it in the first place.

well i think i finally found out what happened... Something went wrong with the automatic compression release, and ended up putting my valve into my piston, in turn, the valve bent, broke off then lodged itself in the piston. as you can see theres a little bit of damage to the head. The cylinder walls are fine. Think i could still use the head with a little bit of repair. Ton of oil got in there and gunked up my intake port, probably along with the carb, have to clean that out too. and i have about 1600 miles on the bike. didnt check the spacing on the shims, think i should just get a kit, and gauge and replace them? and i noticed that one of the shims had a smaller distance from where it touches the valve stem to the cam side... figured it was for the kacr valve.

 

better pics. pretty bad damage to that piston. and notice how the exhaust valve on the far side of the cam shaft that has the kacr just snapped off... wtf lol. i plan to remove the kacr, heard people have done it with no ill effects. the kacr was probably good in theory for easy riding, but i go pretty hard, and usually at higher revs, so it just wore out and ended up killing my engine

 

That sucks! Sounding like a pricey repair too.

I have a stock 2007 klx 250 piston with wrist pin and used rings. I think it has under 500 miles on it? Put new rings and clips you should be fine.
