Whats loud?
The stock pipe on a KLX250S is about the quietest pipe I ever heard. My lawn mower is louder.
So I wanted to find a pipe that had more performance plus a few more decibels of bark. The 2 Brothers pipe looked terrific. Read afew posts on how nice it performs. Bolted one on and Yikes! Wow is it loud, even at idle. Immediately checked the website to find the quiet insert.
The insert is good for about a 10 decibel decrease is what I was told from 2 Bros.
I should have known, being a straight through designed muffler. So I ordered the exhaust bolt on flange w/ the smaller opening # 005-P3.

Well you could do what I did. Full Muzzy and put 6000 miles on it and not repack, even the Harley guys running straight pipes are looking my direction.

It's to bad that before the purchase of the aftermarket pipe, I didn't read anything about the bark factor.Right after I fired the bike up w/ the new slip on I knew it was way too loud.
If I knew then what I know now I probably would have gone w/ the FMF Q4. Which I have read is the quietest of the aftermarket pipes.
But since I chose the 2 Brothers along w/ now the P3 quiet insert, I am hoping for at least a less ear splitting bark. Insert should be here on monday or tuesday.
If noise is a concern and it should, as it affects our diminishing riding areas, these details should be known outright not found out after the fact as I found out.
FMF Q4 w/ quiet insert is the quietest from what I have read.
2 Brothers w/o any insert is as loud as a race pipe (they offer 3 different sized inserts). This is from experiencing it first hand.
Less Sound = More Ground

How much does the FMF Q4 cost and how available is it to purchase and where? I am still waiting for my big gun that I ordered back in January and may be there is still time to get my money back and order something else.
