thanks for the replies. the seller claims the can has around 500-600 street miles on it. As far as the water freezing idea, I've just read some more and I will probably not try this. I guess I can take it to a muffler shop and somehow they "blow" the dent out? I dunno, it really isn't an issue to me other than my ocd. It may actually add some backpressure and may help if anything. I'm just excited to find an exhaust that will bark. I had a line on a free 300 system, just pay for shipping but I don't need that anymore.

I know exactly what you mean when you said the strip is longer than it seems when you're walking. We saw the Titanic attraction and the LaCage show at our hotel, the riviera. We also saw some comedian there too, the guy that was in the show "Yes, Dear". He was real good. It's nice to get away with the wife only, without the kids but then you miss them and just want to go back.

Kiwi- thanks for the tips, but I think that process you described is a little more than I want to delve into. You sound like you could do it with your eyes closed though.[:-]

Looking at those dents it would be a breeze to panel beat them out with a bit of heat, ask at the muffler shop. Can be done without blowing the pipe. Ask the guys to weld the heatshield mounting nuts at the same time, remember how I said my clutch cable was getting melted, make sure that area is sheilded as well, right where the cable outer finishess in the swage.

cool... i wouldnt even worry about those dents.... are those on the outside of the pipe when its on the bike? or hidden on the inside? its better than whats on there.

 

If they are relatively hidden I wouldn't worry about it, the flow area is still larger than stock.

 

they're on the inside toward the airbox. it would be nice to get them removed though if possible.

 

That's what I've heard others recommend. I've heard you want to stay away from steel wool because the header is stainless and steel on stainless steel can darken or discolor the stainless, or so I've heard. Maybe the previous owner already did that? Maybe some "Mothers" polish will restore it?
