Just to be safe, I installed a voltmeter on the bike. But, I just finished an 800 mile trip on my 2009 SF. I had my Gerbing jacket and Dual Star grips on most of the time and the bike did fine. Without a voltmeter, I'd just be sure to turn everything off a few minutes before you stop. I powered the GPS and charged my iPhone off the bike, too, although they draw so little I don't think they really count. Had the stock high beam on the entire trip. Only thing I did to conserve power was to put an LED tail light in but I doubt it's really necessary.
