Default What? Not another ride report from deej..

Yes it is. Not a planned ride, but I took off out of town after work, and wanted to check out a huge slide on one of the forest service roads that happened this past winter. I ended again with just under 60 miles. Man I'm too old to keep this up. (Insert Viagra joke here) Anyway here are a few pics and I don't think I can do this 5 days in a row.

River shot.

Ok it was at this point that my GPS decided to die, and I was already 15 miles into the ride. Again it was not planned, nobody knew where I was going, no water no map, no extra batteries no cell service. Almost a true ADV ride.......almost

You know I've been up this road 10 times in the last 2 years, and this is the first time I noticed a nice pair of Fir trees. They were at least 6 ft at the base. Very nice, I shall call them the twins, and if my GPS had not died I would have marked the spot.

Man it was so nice out today here. I bet it hit 80 and not a cloud in the sky.

Hmmmm that's not the way, but I just wanted to see what was down this little spur.

Here I actually rode into the woods a little in an attempt to get a cool shot, but as luck would have it my batteries in the camera died and I had to shut the camera off for 5 minutes then I could take one picture and repeat this process for the next 10-15 pictures, kind of frustrating, but you do what you have to right? Oh and there is more to this picture coming up.

Anyway off to the slide, which was another 15 or 20 miles up the road. This thing is so massive that it would take a million bucks just to try and fix it.

As I get closer I start to realize just how much damage was done.

Ok see that culvert in 2 pieces? That is close to 10 ft tall, and look at all that bedrock. Its gonna be hard to get something to stick to that again. I wonder how long this one will be closed. The last slide was unfixed for 5 years.

Ok I guess it was time to get home and let out the dogs.

Ok
so I headed back to the bike and down the 20 mile ride back to highway 101

So remember the other picture of the bike in the woods? Well the rest of the story is that as I was taking the picture, the bike fell over on what seemed to be a 6 inch bed of moss but the clutch lever got bent a little and the blinker finally snapped off. And I had thought the camera died before I could take the picture but it actually took it. Anyway, fast forward to on the way back down and I try it again in a different spot, and it was then that I noticed the blinker. Oh well I guess that's what you guys are talking about. Having something to write about.

But I think these shots were worth the drop of the bike. And look I picked up a hitch hiker. Seriously that is not staged. LOL

The reason the blinker snapped off is that originally when I removed them I pushed the tabs up out of the way. When I decided to put the stock turns back on I bent them back down and I could feel the metal start to break, but I was
hoping that it wold hold on through the summer. but it didn't. Oh well.

But as you can see sometimes the places where I ride are magical, almost have that Ireland look to them. Or what was the village called in Lord of the Rings? Not that I watched those movies or anything.
hehe

Well that's it. My wife called again and as I was telling her about yet an other ride she asked me if I missed her. I mean I do miss them but at the same time, its nice to be able to get all this riding in while I can. So I guess there are mixed feelings. But I guess its all good. Don't look for another ride until the Canada trip, I need to rest for a few days. I'm BEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why were your high beams on? Why didn't you try climbing up the ditch?
