what i am not brave enough to do yet
My bike has almost 11,000 miles on it... running like a champ. Im still shocked how tough this bike is. I pound the hell out of it, even after crashing going 35mph on a dirt/gravel road picked it up and it was fine... me, not so much. Im gonna start calling my bike Tank.
To those wanting to wheelie an underpowered bike... I do this trick on my KLX and my KLR... I really shouldnt on the KLR cause its usually on the street.... anyway... Give it a bit of gas real quick then close the throttle. Let the front end dive and when it comes back up use the springs in the forks to help get the front up, get back on the gas as its coming up. Works good. I would be dangerous with a big cc bike. I took a buddies Husaberg for 50-60 mile ride while in Colorado... Just adding fuel to my fire of being a kid at heart... 450 fuel injected bike. Man. Anyway...
Wow EMS - how'd ya get all those KLX's together? Or is that some kind of CGI work?
MY begining wheelie thoughts - it's easier up hill! Look for a slight uphill and if there's a bump or something that's a great place to start. I love my KLX - I find it makes you think about wheelie technique compared to the 690!
And for all those asking, "What's the point?"
Well would "world peace" be a good reason? 2 days ago I (a very white American) was riding my KLX in a particularly extremely staunch Muslim and anti American village. I was visiting some friends but as I left many of the neighbors were glaring at me and scowling. I was riding slow and could hear their mixed Malay/Arabic which they didn't know I could understand. It was something about stuck up capitalist rich guy (obviously rich - I ride a KLX). Kids were glaring as well untill......
I popped a wheelie, smiled and waved!
Kids cheered, scowls turned to smiles and maybe, just maybe some people realized they had judged a whole race without knowing them!

Wheelies are an important part to riding good off road. Everytime i ride my mountain bike i practice doing wheelies to the balance point so i get used to the feeling. The klx is small enough that if you take it too far you can jump off real fast and catch yourself (slow speeds) Then you are standing behind you bike with it vertical holding the handle bars... yes i know from experience.....
No photoshop with the pics... When i say i have met more people on KLX's than anyone else on this forum is an understatement.
