What was in the bag?
When I bought my bike the PO handed me an HMF Performance Series slip on exhaust and a plastic bag of odds and ends.
I put the pipe on this weekend. Seemed pretty intuitive, unbolt the stock one, bolt the new on.
One rivet of the pipe is barely touching the rear fender. Big deal?
Anyways, several of the bag's contents remain unidentified.
I figure the bolts came with the pipe kit.
Any ideas about the screen and the black plastic thingy?
Thanks
Rob

Thanks for the info.
Is the spark arrester from the factory pipe or the HMF pipe?
Should it be on the bike?

The stock muffler's spark arrestor isn't a screen.
That one looks like the HMF on my bike - agree with above posts.
It should be in there if you're riding off road, particularly where one is required (most all public land). It goes between the end cap and the muffler and will work with our without the quiet core. It should be the first think you see if you look down the tailpipe.
And a couple of those other pieces look like the collar and washer/damper for the side plastics.
On the front sprocket cover, is the chain guide still on the bike, part no 12053 on this parts diagram? http://www.carlscycle.com/fiche_sect...006&fveh=51394

There is a screen visible near the back end of the HMF pipe. I'll assume that it's the spark arrester?
Does the spark arrester need to be removed to insert the Quiet Core insert?
Not sure where this one came from?
No chain guard on bike.
I see from the diagram that it's the sprocket cover that EMS noted.
Thanks for the info.

He´s actually asking about the chain guide, not the guard. As far as I know (or think), you shouldn´t be riding without that.
In the picture you´ve posted, there are 2 bolts that look like the ones that should be holding the sprocket guard and chaing guide in place.

Yes, the arrester needs to be removed to get to the quiet core. Take out the three allen head bolts, remove the cap, and the screen and core can be removed or inserted. Very easy.
Malves ^ has it right on the chain guide. I suppose the guide is supposed to help keep the chain from breaking into the case in the event of a chain break. I removed the plastic cover and kept the metal guide, but I think I needed to use some shorter bolts so if the originals are in the bag with the plastic, but the metal guide is attached where it should be, that should be okay. The plastic guard removed from your bike has a tendency to collect mud and debris and it gets all jammed up against the chain and countersprocket, which is why my guard is removed.

Mine looks the same as the picture you posted. The metal guard is there.
My bike is apart right now waiting for the jet kit and front sprocket to arrive. I've not heard it with the HMF pipe.
The previous owner complained that it was too loud. I'll wait to hear for myself but it's good to know I have the option to add the Quiet Core.
Man, I'm learning a lot from you guys.
Thanks
