Default Went to drill the stock exhaust, someone beat me to it?

I've got a 2006 stock KLX (or so I thought)
Bought a 12" x 1/2" bit, and slipped it in (by hand) to see how far in the plate was, and it slipped allllllllll the way in!!

Was it not long enough, or did the previous owner already drill this sucker
I was told it was still stock

A 12" long bit should have hit something if it hasn't been drilled already. Take the drill bit back and get your money back.

there has to be something there to catch the spark.

my blaaster has a FMF with a stainless screen shaped like a cone and the stock KLX has a baffle/ "cup" just inside the opening.

Well that sucks
so someone drilled it, AND drilled too far at that

We don't really get forest fires here in New England
So I doubt anyone would ever check
I hope

Just play dumb if they check, my klr wouldn't pass the test either and don't sweat it. Been checked twice in all my years and that was in high fire danger, burn ban on, area's and time of year.

LOL, Some doofus actually shoved a tester in your muffler???? With so many other "Real" crimes being committed, I can't imagine a cop wasting time bothering with a can check.

They do it, and sound test. Usually instigated by some doofus with a clapped out loud pipe in your group that they suspect not spark arrested. Not cops on the street but orv enforcement rangers in the NF, or Dept of natural resources during fire season.
