Weird Fuel Screw Problem..
Hey Guys!! First of all Happy New Year!! I rode my Klx alot during December!! Had loads of fun
I also found a weird problem lol..
When I set my Fuel Screw by listening to the perfect idle sound (turn in A/F Until Idle dies then turn out till it dies again and set it in the middle of these two points) this method showed me a perfect setting at 1.75 turns. It idles perfect and starts up without applying the throttle and everything, but when I'm riding and I suddenly accelerate I had a bog, keep in mind this was at about 1.75 turns. It also tries to die when I accelerate when the bike is still (has a slight pull back effect) doesnt really die. So I thought f*** the idling crap I need to have crispy throttle when riding, so I kept on opening the Screw until the bog was almost non existent, and that point was at 2.5 turns open.
And now, it revs from idle to wot like a EFI machine, and it flies.. NO BOG.. But sometimes it wont start without throttle and even with throttle it wont start up as easy as it did at 1.75 turns on the air fuel screw.. And besides I changed the spark plug today. And the old plug was really black indicating a really really rich mixture.
My jetting is :
#120 DJ Main Jet
#35 Stock Pilot - Im having a bad feeling this is the culprit and I need to try the 38.. :S
Mods are in my signature Im thinking maybe the pilot isnt supplying enough fuel to compensate for all the air im letting in through the open air box and letting out through the aftermarket exhaust?
Thanks alot! And here are some new pics for ya'll!

Your probably rite about the pilot jet.I don't know about the Japanese spec bikes,if they had that smog stuff that everyone removes, anyway I removed mine and rejetted etc and everything was fine for a while then weird things kinda like your describing started happening. You know that vacuum port on the front of the carb well I had fitted a rubber plug which turned out to be of poor quality and it had developed a split which you could not see and was causing weird intermittent problems, something to look at anyway.

Your plug was carboned up after riding with the screw out 2.5 turns or 1.75 turns?
I kept my pilot stock, put in a #128 main and adjusted the needle to the 3rd (middle) slot. My fuel screw was out 2.5 turns and the bike would start cold with no choke or throttle. I think starting without choke is a sign of being rich, isn't it? Anyway it would bog on me at higher RPMs or under a load so I started turning the screw in bit by bit. ( I sure wish I had spent that extra $25 on the fuel screw when I had the carb off!!). I can't be sure exactly because the driver I have to use to adjust it is one of those screwdrivers for eyeglasses cut off to about 2 inches long. It works, I just can't tell exactly how much the screw turns. I think it's at between 2 and
2.25 turns out and it runs pretty good.
Does anybody know where that front vac port goes?

weird
Horizonod you can fit that mixture screw without taking the carb off I did and I'm a bit hamfisted take the cable or cables off depending on if you have fitted a vortex throttle or something similar maybe the cable bracket also unclip the idle screw from it's bracket(I think, poor memory) loosen the intake boot clamps and it turns enough to get at, just put a rag underneath in case the little washer falls out (mine didn't).

My top end is really really really good! Do you think I should try the #38 Pilot?
