Default weighted flywheel on the klx?

I had heard from a Hondamechanic that the reason the KLX has a slow stock throttle response was due to a weighted fly wheel. He said that the this is for smooth acceleration. Does anyone know about this? Is this true? Can the flywheel be swapped with another model like the 300? Can the "weights?" on the flywheel be removed?

Any advice would be helpful.

Default RE: weighted flywheel on the klx?

I'm sure youcould make it rev quicker with a lighter fly wheel, but I don't know of anyone who has tried it. Are you sure you bought the bike you really want? Sounds like you want to make it intomore of an MX bike. If you lighten the flywheel your top-end revs will quicken, but you will lose low-end torque. Is that what you really want? I've seen and night and day difference in throttle response after adding a pumper carb. Ifyou haven't done the standard mods yet, they improve your throttle response as well, though it won't beas dramatic as a pumper.
