Default Valve check intervals?

I don't know why but I had it planted in my head that we were supposed to get the valve checked at 600 miles. In the instruction manual it sais no such thing, so would it be really necassary to spend $100 to get the valves checked if its not recommended by the manufacturer themselves? Please let me know what you guys think. Also, where can I pick up a KLX 250S service manual at, I've already hear some people have them on order and just waiting to recieve them?

I have the same question. My bike is at the dealer right now having them checked. I guess it can't hurt.

Nope, it definatley can't hurt. I just want to make sure that I don't have to spend $100 on something not necassary. I'm looking to buy the Muzzy, Snorkle, Jet Kit, Skid plate, large IMS tank. I need to save as much money as I can, buying all that hurts the wallet[:@]

I'll have to double check the manual. But if it's not in there, then No, it's not required.

I'm at 3000 miles. I should have 7500mi on it before the one year warranty is up. Therefore, if Kawi screwed up, they buy the valve job.[sm=happybounce.gif]

Your joking right? The valve adjustment is considered regular mantenance. Valves can drift out of spec during normal use.

I am big on maintenance, **** in most cases. I have the shim set on my bench as I type. The book says 7500mi, by golly 7500 it is. I due the KLR650 every 5000mi, but it listed 600mi initially

Kawasaki offers a "service manual supplement" on the Kawasaki website. Click on SHOP FOR ACCESSORIES, then click MOTORCYCLE, then search down the list until you find the KLX 250S and click it. A link for MANUALS should show up there.

I've been waiting for the KLX250S manual since I bought the bike, it just became available. You also need the BASE manual, which is probably the KLX300 base. It's about $75 for the pair.

BTW, I was going to take it in for a 600mi, but Marty enlighten me on the 7500mi mark.
