Default Usable Tank Capacity

Can someone tell me in gallons what the usable portion of the 2.0 gallon fuel tank is on the 2018 or 2019 KLX250? In other words, if you ran your 2018/2019 until it ran out of gas, how much would it take to fill it? Thx!

Okay, thank you. That's pretty good.

I'm coming off a 2016 Camo KLR650 and we always had that "secret reserve" where you lay or lean it on the left side. Sounds like we can take the KLX down to bone dry.

So far my mpg readings are coming in at 58 mpg...adjusted to 55 mpg with the trip/odometer error.

I have pumped 1.9 gallons also. I am surprised a new KLX250S would/could get less than 60 mpg as I have been hitting around 70 before and after the BB351 kit with the carb.

I'm just breaking out of the running in period and got 71 mpg yesterday on 100 miles using the trip/odometer (68 mpg using my GPS trip mileage). So, if I have a full 2 gallons of usable fuel, I've got almost 140 miles until I'm walking.

Default 55 miles to reserve

And I just got my worst ever tank of gas economy wise. Usually the bike has the SM wheelset with 130/80-17 rear and OEM size front tire with 15x39 sprockets. I currently have a D606 tires, 130 rear, OEM front sizes with 13x43 sprockets. Filled up and did one loop of a trials event a few weeks ago and last weekend rode over close to the airport to screw around in the mud and stuff. Leaving the tire and gearing for a gate trial event next next Sunday and needed to commute this morning. I thought the bike had engine trouble but no, she hit reserve at 55 miles. Big surprise. I need to recalibrate my right wrist for riding off-road with reduced traction and figure out how to loft the front wheel with low traction where throttle alone in insufficient. And think about re-gearing and lowering rpm in the flat lands around here.
