Default Unscrewed what I sholdn't have...

I was getting ready to change the oil filter, and began to unscrew a bolt from the left side of the bike. I loosened just one bolt of the small round plate that's about the same size as the filter cover on the left side. It's got three bolts and is up and to the right of the clutch.

What is it and what's the torque setting, if any? I wanna tighten it to spec before I ride again. After I siphon some oil out-of course I put in too much. all in all, seems like a successful first oil change, ever!

Does it look like this?

If so, which bolt did you take out? I am guessing the middle one, with a spring behind it? If so, it's the cam chain tensioner, and you can just put it back in tight. I don't have my manual handy, but i don't think it has to be torqued very hard. Anyone with their manual want to help with specs, if any?

If your an average build bloke....Two finger torque on a 3/8 ratchet...

Youll know whats enough....Always remember most parts are aluminum threads/Cast....1/16-1/32 turn after snug...

8mm bolt (6mm thread) = 7 Nm torque.
I think the bolt is on the starter motor gear cover.

I know but I don't know what cover I unscrewed! It's small, round, it looks like the oil filter cover, and it's right next to the clutch cover. Lemme find a pic...

Here!

You're exactly right! Thanks! It does not appear that there is any torque spec on that one, just "secure it"

Didn't you say "up and to the right of the clutch"? Did they relocate the clutch on the new ones? Mine is on the right side of the engine, not left.

Starter motor cover. No biggie.

Good to see that someone else has lever issues too. This is coming from one who already has replaced both sides then bought some hand guards.
