The unofficial weight of 06-07 KLX 250 w/pics
I had an ideato weigh the KLX today. So here is what I did. I took a 2x4 and placed it on a scale and weighed it. It weighed 10lbs, then Just to check if it would be accurate I weighed my self standing on the 2x4 and it added exactly 10lbs to my 185lbs for a total of 195lbs. OK that seemed to work pretty good,Then I rolled the KLX onto the 2x4 and weighed it for a total of 301lbs minus the 10lbs for the 2x4 for the grand total of 291lbs. I had about 1/2 of a tank of gas in it.

Nicely done. What would the dry weight be? 291 lbs - (G+C+O)
Gas - 1 gallon ~ 9 lbs
Coolant - 1.2 liters? ~ 3 lbs
Oil - 1.5 quarts? ~ 3 lbs
That would put it roughly at around 276 lbs assuming the measurements and weights are right above. I don't recall exactly how much coolant or oil is in the KLX and we don't know exactly how much gas - about 1/2 would be about a gallon, but that could be off.

Well that about settles it then folks, its not light!
It feels around that to me and I have a Muzzy and removed a few bits too.
I really notice it after i have been moving the other bikes around or pushing them on the trailer.
Onestarr did you polish your swingarm?

Thanks, I do think I have a little more than 1/2a tankin it. I also have the stock pipeand the rackon it.I do have the Tusk aluminumbars w/ Tusk aluminumhand guards so I figure the bars weighs about the same as stock bars w/ the stock guards. Now we need a couple of people to do the same test to their bikes and then we can get an average weight and we wont have to rely on Kawasaki to get their facts straight...

it looks like the 2x4 is touching the ground, is it or is it just me?

I'll have to get mine on the scale soon. I have a lot more items removed than you do and am not running the stock pipe either. Now you got me curious. Based on your weights I bet I would be around 255 withall fluids but no gas.

It looks like you have some heavier tires than stock too.
Nobrakes: I would assume a dry weight is 100% dry--meaning not only no fuel, engine oil, coolant, but also no brake fluid, suspension fluid, battery acid, blinker fluid ()--everything.
