I used to use K&N, then i read the tests on them and found out how bad they are at actual filtration.

On a road bike or something that won't be in dirty dusty conditions, a K&N is probably ok, but on a dirt bike, i'll pass.

Yea, I'm debating what filter myself for my bike atm... I believe the K&N flows better but at the downturn of poorer filtration I believe (correct me if I'm wrong), which is fine if you have the SF model like myself and will be on the road most of the time. However, I still don't like the idea of "poorer" lol. So I will most likely be getting the Uni or Twin Air I guess, I couldn't have a clue less as to which is better, so ill probly just pick up whatever one I can purchase the cheapest.

Well I went with the K&N filter mainly because I have one in my truck. So I already have the oil and cleaner. I now am in the prossees of rerouting the crankcase vent. Removing the rear extra fender/lience plate bracket. I will be fabricating a new aluminum bracket tomorrow. And I am trying to do the Deej clean on the rest of the bike while I wait for the parts. I ordered a k-t handle Idle air screw. Still have 3 more days before the parts get here. I may need a second job if they dont make it here by friday.

Default K&N

Everything that I have read does not say that the K&N filters poorly it usually blames the situation on the areas of connection to the vehicle. I know on my 2008 Teryx they sell adapters for the plastic sleeve to make a good contact between the airbox and the filter, dirt issues were not the fault of the filter, they were a problem with the area of attachment. I only chose the uni due to its availability locally. Still thinking of going with K&N. Better flo, easy maintenance. I've also had one on my truck for 5 years its been awesome.

Just put new main jet in this week DJ128 along with the needle. The bike has the FMF exhaust and snorkel removed. The bike was running like crap prior to the jet kit install. Well worth the $50. The removal and install of the carb is the hardest part

For my bike, the stock 35 pilot is just right. DJ doesn't include pilots with their kit, or at least not with mine or any that I've heard of. I put in a #38. Too rich, back to the #35. If you can adjust the fuel:air screw, and get the best idle between 1 and 3 turns out, your pilot is probably the right size. With a #38, I had to turn the mix screw almost all the way in to make much difference on idle. Here's an interesting tidbit: my buddy's KLX300 was in the local Kaw dealer (known for their pretty good work) for a power-up kit, and they changed the pilot from #35 to the next size down (think that was a #32). More snap off the bottom end. If you didn't get a T-handle fuel screw (Kouba makes one), consider it for easy adjustment, or modify a screwdriver to fit in there.

If you are looking for larger pilot jets, go to your Kaw dealer or an on-line place that sells stock jets and use these part numbers:

N424-25-#38 kawi p/n 92064-1050
N424-25-#40 92064-1108

There is no reason to change to a 40. 35 is the right pilot jet. Kawi at least got that right.

I live right here in Bonney Lake, good to see a neighbor.

Ya i think a lot of guy switch to a 40 pilot jet if they us th ntc1 neddle. The dyno jet needle has more taper. so the stock jet must be just right in that combo. I have been reading like a wild man these last few day while waiting for the parts. Jet kit has not shipped yet. Koubo screw get here today! There are a lot of us from the NW in this forum. We need to get a ride together. Well as soon a i get my bike back on the road .
