Default Trying out the helmet cam video

I got my hands on a cheap camera the other day. It's a Oregon Scientific ATC-2000 (ATC2K). They can be had for less than $100 on the web.

You pretty much get what you pay for. It's all solid state and records right to a SD card in the camera. No wires, plugs or anything.

There's no way to preview the video without a computer, so all the vid we shot over the weekend is pointing a bit lower than what we wanted. We know how to adjust the mount next time. And by mount, I mean duct tape and a piece of foam rubber. Hey, it worked!

The quality is just 'OK'. I've seen mods on the web where people have made the mic better and adapted a wider angle lens to the camera. I think I'll try that too.

Also, I used the Vimeo site that NB turned me on to for hosting the video. It takes a really long time for your videos to show up, like 3-4 hours. The wait is worth it though. The quality is better than Youtubes high quality vid.

I've got more footage to go through, but here's what I put together so far.

Anyway, enough chatter... here's the video we did.

I hope more people get cams as they are getting cheaper and better images. I enjoy seeing other peoples riding spots. Thanks for sharing.

Nice vid, Bill! I think it's neat seeing the ride as it happens. And with a helmet cam, you tend to catch more of those "doh!" moments of your riding buddies, and your own, too of course.

Why are you going so slow?
Seriously though, looks like you had fun.
