Thanks for both of the above replies, but those aren't the problems.

No block off plate, but just the stock tube with a plug in it. Why?

I was just wondering if you could have an unburnt fuel backfire which could stall out your bike at low rpm possibly through the thingy. Just thinking outloud...throttle off, coasting unburnt fuel into exhaust backfires back through thingy....stalls bike out...nothing too violent I don't know...or the opposite...throttle off engine starves for fuel and dies.

Ron,
Is this the 'whirr' or the whack-engine-dead symptom, or both?
How to check?

Default Tire Pressure??

Check your tire pressure.you say it goes away when warm, warmed up means the tires are warm and the pressure is up????
My tires "whir" when i drop the pressure down low.
Just a wild *** guess, sometimes the obvious is overlooked.

The "whack-engine-dead" was what I was referring to. If it is bad, it would make sense that it could also be causing the whirr.

The best way to check would be to take the side cover off and have a look.

Will be doing that. Have a kick starter to install, so that will get me in on the right side, so may as well have a look at the left, too.

Please do a write up on the kickstarter when you do it. With pics of course.

There's already a couple good ones on kick starter install.
I may reference those and add to them.
