I just got my bike recently.

Maybe you need to adjust the clutch?
I've been running Amsoil full synthetic for over 13,000 miles, and not a bit of problems. Dealers are told to say that. Most of them are only repeating what they have been told. The days of using only brand related products is over. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL sorry I got carried away there.

I have been using Castrol 10/40w since I bought the bike new in 1999. In 2011 I put in a Bill Blue 331 kit. Now I use Castrol 20/50w per his recommendation. Never have had an issue. In your case I think your clutch plates are dragging. I have seen it in some of the older machines that I and others have ridden. Concerning synthetics vs. conventional oils, I have always felt like the bike shifted smoother with synthetic oil. Also given the pounding and abuse that a dirt bike gets when in use made me want to spend the extra money for more highly refined oil.
