Does anyone know what size spanner wrench our bike needs? I am looking to go get some tools from a shop that is going to be closing that my buddy told me about. Is there any other spec tools I should think about picking up?

Just thought a little more. Those ratchet ring spanners are really cool. 8mm, 10mm and 12mm would be handy.
Something like these.

It's called a wrench. A spanner wrench is a specialized wrench. You probably spell tire, "t-y-r-e" don't you!!

I am speaking English.

tire
• verb 1 become or cause to become in need of rest or sleep. 2 exhaust the patience or interest of. 3 (tire of) become impatient or bored with.
tyre
• noun 1 a rubber covering, typically inflated or surrounding an inflated inner tube, placed round a wheel to form a soft contact with the road. 2 a strengthening band of metal fitted around the rim of a wheel, especially of a railway vehicle.

save your money on the spanner wrench. a punch and a hammer work just fine.

In replace of a punch, cheap expandable flat head screw driver also works.

+1 on that thought. A good torque wrench is invaluable when it comes to good mechanical practice. Get a 3/8 inch wrench with step up and step down adapters to 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch.
Should cover all your needs for a bike.
