Took it in the face 2day
Yup hurt so bad...Coulda been worse...
Stung for 20 minutes and still a nice red mark with impact smack points...
Open face MX hemet on the expressway doing 60mph+....BammmWacK.....Must of been a stone or lug nut.. Never seen it coming....Hit me right below my glasses on the bone.Never seen it or heard it...Must of bounced off me when it hit....
Not a helmet thread but more like I will wear a fullface if doing over 55mph or stop using the expressway but dang its alot faster to work in the morning...And I need that extra cup of coffee.......But yuck thats the 1st in 20k miles.

Yup that hurts, I got a line drive golf ball in the same spot when I was a kid probably would have freaked out and crashed if I were on a bike though. The highway sucks for mx helmets. Have you ever been stuck behind a truck thats spilling out sand? that just sucks.
I really like my MX helmet for in town and offroad because of the ventilation. I'm with you- I might get a full helmet with a visor for the longer/higher speed rides. It would be more compatible with my glasses, too.
So far, I've only been dinged on exposed skin twice. First, right under the goggles. The second one reminded me my nose was very exposed.

They make a helmet now that has a full face shield and an mx visor. The face shield fits perfectly under the visor when you don't need it, and I belive goggles fit under the face shield when its down.
Its the, Shoei Hornet DS. Dirtbike mag had a product test in the Aug. 08' issue. Looks like a pretty sweet helmet and would be perfect for dual sporting.
