Sure she has a broken radiator shroud, that'll be replaced with the slightly melted airbox (thanks FMF exhaust) by the end of next week! Any suggestions on how not to have the airbox melt with the FMF, besides wrapping the exhaust?

Jetted koubua ext fuel screw, TCI rack, Richochet skid plate, moose bars, bark busters, extra air filter, 2 extra oil filters, extra plug, D606 on rear, and all the stock parts to go with it.

I'm excited about getting the bike, not that excited about the 16hour round trip haha but hopefully it'll be worth it!

My fiance is getting me the plastics, DRC Edge light kit, and possibly blinkers for Christmas.

I'll be purchasing a new front tire, probably going with a shinko244, removing the screen behind the air filter, rejetting to the klx300 kit, removing smog if not already done, then getting the racetech gold valves put in by R&R racing within the next couple months!
Then when money allows... BB351 and ported carb.

Besides maintenance, any other suggestions? Is the cam mod safe to do with the 351 kit? I've read a thread here where a guy burned his piston/valves up after doing both.

Cam mod appears to be worthless with big bore kits. at least one member here reports losing power after doing it.

if after the big bore you are looking for more add a header, the TM36-68 carb and webcam custom camshafts.

As to melting the air box...I applied some leverage on the pipe and bent it out, once it was all tightened down. I used a crowbar. I went from 1/16" of clearance to at least 1/4", maybe even 1/2" IIRC.
If done with slow easy pressure, the brackets will cooperate first, which is what you want.

I know how you must feel. I only had to drive 10 hours round trip to get my 09 KLX250s.
I'm just glad I did it early enough and had decent weather, I had to drive over a tall mountain pass that's probably got 2 ft of snow up there by now. I didn't want to buy snow tires for the truck, just to pick up the bike.

Congrats on the new bike.
