Default TM36 stupid question

Hi, I got TM36 and trying to figure out how to take out the needle. It is secured by plate and screw. However this screw is not alien or any other type of head. How to unscrew it?

Thanks! One question more - it appears that I have standard 9DZH-50 needle. However most setups use 9EBY-50 needle. Following comments the stock one is lean comparing to 9EBY-50 but both have the same diameter of 2.5. From other point 9EBY-51 is leaner than 9EBY-50, does it mean that it is similar to stock needle? What is the difference between these three needles?

The difference is the taper profile of the needles. The all have a 2.5mm base diameter, but how and where each needle tapers down from the base is different. The 9EBY needles were developed for the Honda XR400, but work equally well with our bikes. I don't know specifically how the taper profiles differ between all of them, but I do know that the 9EBY-50 needle cured a mid-range stumble that I couldn't jet around otherwise. The 9EBY-50 needle is used for normal elevation, while the 9EBY-51 is used for high elevation (above 5,000' or so).

One important thing to remember is that if you go with a 9EBY needle, you should run a larger pilot jet (@17.5) and a smaller (@P-4) needle jet. They all work together.

Thanks for the input. I have recompiled information available from the forum (see attachment). Could you please give me updated info if your case is not listed there.

You've got me on there, and that's quite the compilation! All of that data might confuse you though. Pick a starting point with the jetting and work from there. If you pick a jetting setup that somebody else swears by, and it doesn't seem to work as well for you, don't get discouraged. Just adjust your jetting from there based on what your bike is telling you.

Good luck!
