Default tm36-68 and stock exhaust

Anyone try it? aside from losing 5mph off the top end wide open, hard to tell the difference.. albeit the front doesnt loft in 2nd gear anymore, but I took it on the trails.. quiet and powerful especially on the low end.. grunty and quiet.. just playing around. My Megabomb developed a pin hole and significant corrosion at only one year old.. dissapointed in that will be trying a powerbomb this time hoping the construction is a little better..

cheers

My friend and I both put powerbombs on our bikes and we both noticed a difference from going from stock to the PB. I have no idea what an actual test would yield, but it does work. I know it's just a $150 piece of bent pipe, but it's cheap enough where the stock headder isn't worth screwing with anymore.

I would guess that it goes with the engine being just a air pump. Stuffing a bunch of air [and fuel] in it without the means to get it out would hamper the top [rev]end. Ideas?

Tiger, if I'm reading you correctly, you have a 351 and a 36mm pumper? IMO going with a stock exhaust just isn't logical. You've done all this work to improve volumetric efficiency at the carb and displacement, and then you basically stick a plug in the end of the whole air pump. I felt the big improvement in a stock 250 just going with a full Muzzy exhaust...jetted to suit the pipe of course. It's got to be an even bigger impact having a better flowing exhaust coupled to a 351 and larger carb. The header pipe and muffler on the KLX250S is too small for a stock engine. Think how it'll match up to an even bigger engine.

TNC ur right.. I stuck the stocker exhaust on because my Megabomb has a crack after only one year.. woa what a difference NO low end power anymore.. top end took a hit too, but most notable on low end.. its a dog without a beefy header to take all the exaust away.. Ive a powerbomb on order cant wait till it comes in..

A year?...wow! What do you think caused the crack or failure?...crash?...vibration?...bad welding?

I think its the welding.. the megabombs are very thin stainless, and the steel wasnt the best quality to begin with .. it started corroding after a few months.. then with the heat and vibration and poor fit and me taking off the q4 over and over twisting to get it unstuck, it finally cracked at the weld site.. hoping the powerbomb is built a little better we shall see

Yes, can reweld it easy.. just a 1 inch bead right over previous weld, but I would want to use an arc welder, it will cost me overy 100$ for an arc welder... i just bought another pipe
