Default TM 36 question

Hey guys, how many of you running the TM36-68 with the big bore kit are running with the 17.5 pilot jet? Reason I'm asking is that I'm cureently running the stock 12.5 pilot jet on the 250 and I've got a slight bit of decel pop. Just wondering if the 15 pilot jet would be alright.

Mikuni states that small amount of de-accel pop is normal.

Ideally, to get the pilot jet correct, you should choose the one which gives both a lean and rich stutter during adjustment. For example, if turn the screw out and don't get the rich stutter, then move up a size. The proper adjustment would then be near the middle of lean and rich stutters. The needle jet and jet needle also play a small part in this equation too.

Alright, today I tried the TM36 on my bike. I am at sea level, 331 big bore, K&N & airbox lid off, and I'm a little stumped by how its running. I'm not sure whats what to think. When I first started the bike up I had the mixture screw turned out 2 turns and did not touch anything else. So i started the bike up and the slide in the carb was banging around pretty loud, and the bike was idling at like 2500. so i turned the idle screw to get it back down to 1500 or whatever and the clanking noise went away. so I give it a little snap on the throttle and sounds like im getting backfire through the carb. I only ran the bike maybe 3 minutes and the head was freakin hot, as well as where the carb mates up with the head. At least i don't recall the head running that hot. Anyone know where I need to go with this? Am I running to rich?

This is the jetting that I am running, I got it from the suncup forum and the bike runs great!, KK331, FSW header, Muzzy can, no airbox lid and uni filter!

Main Jet: 130 (stock)
Pilot Jet: 17.5 (stock is a 12.5)
Needle Jet: P-4 (stock is a P-8)
Needle: 9EBY1-50 (stock is a 9DZH6-50)
Needle Clip: 3rd slot from top (middle position)
Fuel/Air Screw: 2 turns out
A/P Pump Timing: Starts at 1/8 throttle and stops at 3/4 throttle
A/P Squirter: Pointed directly at the needle (fuel should splash off the needle

does anyone have any ideas as if I'm running to rich to lean with the TM36-68 stock setup i'm at sea level. i'd rather not cause any heat damage. when i ran the bike for just a couple minutes the head got damn hot, and fast and i don't recall it running that warm, but maybe im just trippin as i haven't ran the bike for awhile. keep in mind i have the 331 bore.

Another thing is I need a longer throttle cable as its just too short no matter which way i run it. If i turn to the left it pulls open the throttle. So does anyone know where i can pick up another cable. Superhawk I know you mentioned you needed a longer cable what did you end up doing
