I am using Bridgestone BW 201 and BW 202. Works well as 80% onroad, for wet and dry, on super fast and steep mountain passes.

I don't think that the % / % ratings on these tires make much sense. The Pirelli Scorpion MT 90 A/T's are probably awesome on the street and suck in the dirt. A quick search gave me this poor guy:

Dual sport tires are a compromise. You gotta give up something to get something. If you're shopping for anything less than a 50/50 tire your time in the dirt is going to be miserable IMO. I don't do alot of time in the dirt, but when I get there I want to be able to ride through it.

I liked the Kenda 270 on the rear, but I wore through it in 2500 miles. No complaints on dry streets or dirt. Gonna throw a Shinko 244 "Golden Boy" on next to see if I can get more miles out of it.

You must ride mostly street. I put 7000 km on my 270 rear and it still had at least half a season left on it.

7000 km? That's like 50,000 miles!

I'm a 50/50 rider. I do this loop most weekends: College Blvd to College Blvd - Google Maps

The 6000 ft climb up & down Palomar Mountain followed by a 4000 ft climb up & down Black Mountain may have something to do with it.

This photo looks kinda staged. I mean why would the guy go out of his way to place his helmet neatly next to his bike, put on his sunglasses, and then pose next to the bike; all this while his $25,000 motorcycle sits on its side not being uprighted.

Anyways, I do agree with you on the % / % rating. It is kind of silly. If one commutes with his bike during the week but goes to the trails to do very tight technical stuff, by the % / % rating, he is supposed to get 90% on road / 10% off road, which will promptly get himself killed on the trails.

since the s wheels are being shipped...need to shop for tires...i like the shinko 705 i have right now on the highways and thought i get it on the s wheels...seems like it'll be good protection for light trails...any other suggestions for something little more 80% street/20% trails....

I love my 70/30 tires. More aggressive for trails but they handle great on the street. I can lean into turns very confidently. They were also significantly lighter than the stock tires.

I wanted something that would handle gravel/fire roads for my beamer. I went with the Kenda 65H(rear) & 57H(front). They look a little more dirt orientated than the above post, we will see this summer in CO.
I was looking at getting some Heidenau K60's, but the Kenda's were a little cheaper and easier to have delivered.
The size of your tires makes selection decisions, I couldn't get what I wanted in the size I needed.

Darn, I just got back from the San Diego Grand Fondo, looks like I should have taken my bike with the motor on it to. The above link looks like it is just north of SD.

I use the Shinko 244s, 17x3.00 front 17x4.60 rear. I see that you have an s rather than and sf so your tire options may be different, I consider myself about 85% Street and 15% Dirt but the Shinko 244 ride real nice in the dirt, gravel, and I've gone 20-25mph through sand with no issue. and commuting to work and school on the street, I haven't seen any wear on the front tire and barely any wear on the rear tire in the past 500 miles.

I also think the tires fit the bike pretty well.
