I was contemplating putting a bigger tire on the rear. The Dunlop 606 120 is HUGE I think. I was really amazed at how much better my rear hooked up off-road.

It was a real bitch to get on and the bead didn't seat that well. I went for a short ride, swerving left and ride to get pressure on both sides. Pulled into the gas station and it was mostly seated. Put way too much air in by accident, then let it out, and it was fully seated, even all around on both sides.

We shall see how long it lasts on the street....

When I ordered my new 606 I ordered some tubes and tire spoons too. Well the tire came in 2 days, the tools etc must have shipped out of a different warehouse. The tire came last friday (halloween) and I was planning on riding in a Dual sport event that Sunday. There is no question, the tire is getting put on. I hate to do it but I'll have to use my trusty, big, nasty screwdrivers.

I don't know what they put on the tube when they put this thing together, but it didn't wash off easily. That stock tube felt pretty thin too.

Worked great. Happy that the tube still held air.

The new one is the Dunlop 606 120/90-18, the old one is the Dunlop 603 4.60x18. The overall width of these two tires is almost exactly the same (the 120/90 should be wider thean the 4.60, but I can't see it ) . Definitely room for the 130mm wide Dunlop 606's on these bikes. Rode the Dual Sport event, and had a blast (I plan on posting that up soon). I think I would have really had some trouble if I hadn't gotten the new tire and got it on before the ride. Thanks for the help. Dan

Did you have any issues getting the bead to seat evenly? I had to go out for a ride in order to get it nice and even.

I ran a 130 street tire when I half crossed the continent. It was on the bike when I bought it. It messed up the ride height (too tall) and handling, so I had to back way off on spring preload to go 90mph without head shake.

Anything that makes the `06 and `07 butt high is going quicken steering and make it hyper, because the rake is too steep tp begin with on the `06 and `07 (unless you weigh a ton and sit back on the seat).

See my recent thread Squirrely Handling Fix (or something like that) for why and how to fix it.

je2000 yes I had one spot that didn't want to pop out and seat. I aired it up and down a few times and tried to pry it around each time with no luck. I know I just read a thread on here about someone having the same trouble (was that you?) Finally I just started giving it more air, at about 40psi it popped out and seated. Aired it back to 22psi and all was good.
Einfahrt, good point, I didn't really consider the additional height that comes with the width.

It may have been me, but I thought I was explaining that same exact method on another site. Maybe it was here.

It was actually by accident as the pump at the gas station filled it REALLY quickly.
