Default There are some new rack options for the klx 250

I happened to contact this guy PMR - Kawasaki Products about making some racks for the klx 250s. Since I live in the area. He made the typical rear rack along with some side racks more for soft bags. And could double for tip over protection.

This is the prototype racks that will be used to also make the production racks. So the mounting bolts will be changed out to better ones. Other then that as far as I know what you see is what you will get. I think he told me the racks are made from 1/2 tubing

I was told the top rack will be available in 3 sizes mine being the smallest.
Its predrilled for the rotopax gas tank mount.

I just got the bike back tonight so these are some quick pictures. Hopefully soon on his website will be better ones.

Had a little hard time getting the helmet on, I may pick up a extension for the strap
or may not will have to see if I get quicker at mounting it
I do understand if I had bags on the racks most likely wont be able to mount the helmet anyways so keep that in mind

The side racks use the plastic bodywork mounting points, so take that into consideration when loading them up.

I had him make me a set of engine guards too was told they are from 3/4 tubing
hopefully he will be selling these, no skidplate uses the stock one
which im fine with, would be cheaper that way
Great for adding axillary lights
One little issue on the brake side the tip of my shoe hits the guard when placing foot on brake lever. Nothing to cause you not to brake, just surprised me the first time it happened. Deciding weather or not to slightly bend out brake lever or just live with it.

At least it does provide protection even the clutch lever side
Looks like I can still get to the oil filter from a quick glance without having to remove the side cover.

This is my first impressions review
I will have to use these for a while to see how it all works out. So far they are really nice.

If you have any questions or want better pics or certain areas let me know.

The tail rack and side rack look great. The engine guards look problematic to me. Seems like they could get caught on rocks, trap rocks or worse grab ahold of a stick or root and dont offer full protection. For a street bike seems like they'd do the trick.

probably not much off roading with this bike, its too new to get dirty

just figure it would be nice to have protection if it tips over
I know in a crash anything can happen so im not expecting it to hold up to that

Very nice and very reasonably priced (on his website). I contacted him about whether he would be offering these for the 06-08 models. I'd love to get these with kopin fuel cell mounts welded on.

Nice work! I'm a metal fabricator and I'm blown away at these racks! Nice bends, brother. Very clean. Pretty design, nice fit up and nice welding. When someone, who really likes their work, builds something, great stuff happens. Like these pieces from PMR

Hey, this is Lee, the owner of Precision Motorcycle Racks. Thanks for checking the pics and and giving me all the positive feedback. I am glad you like the style of the new racks. They will be for sale in a couple of weeks on my web site and on Ebay. If you guys know anyone in the San Diego area with an older version KLX 06-08 that wants free racks give me a call or e-mail. 619-674-4467

ahnh666 - Let me know when you will be in SD and I will have a set ready for you.

duncanblake - Thanks for the positive words from another fabricator

MikeW - You are the man! Thanks again for the loner bike
