Thanks for all the great advice...
Just wanted to thank everyone here for sharing a wealth of really good advice regarding the KLX250.
Having said that, I bought a RZR in January, and reluctantly sold my KLX last week. The kid who bought it was very impressed with the mods, and the power it had over his buddy's new Honda 250. That wouldn't be true if it weren't for collective minds on this forum.
I wish you all the best, and hope that if I see any of you on the trails, you won't think any less of me for riding a RZR.

Come on, give us some eye candy. And a review of the thing.
My ATV riding friends keep hounding me to get one. Not really interested in a normal ATV(except for their work capabilities on my property), but the RZR and the like interest me. I always wanted a Honda Odyssey when I was a kid.

Yes, dirt bikes *should* have 2 wheels, and the 4-wheel variety *can* drain the wallet a LOT faster than the KLX...
So far, I have put only a few hundred $$$ into mine. The bulk of that was to get it steet-legal. Last week, a new Utah law went into effect making it legal to now drive my "plated" RZR on any road that isn't a "Freeway" or a "Limited Access Highway". There used to be a restriction on the size of the municipality, which prohibited use in towns with over 7,500 residents. That restriction was removed with the new law, opening up almost the entire state.
So, as to the RZR; they are pricey to start with! I bought a left-over base 570 model. At only 50" wide, the 570 is designed to fit through the metering posts on all ATV-only trails. This thing is so much FUN to ride. The 570 engine is a new design (basically, half of the new 900 engine) and was de-tuned so as not to trounce the new and existing 800 models. Still, the 570 will stay even with the 800 up to 35 MPH (4.5 seconds). The 570 climbs like a mountain goat. I have taken it on trails I used to ride my KLX on, and there hasn't been anything (so far) the RZR couldn't handle. So far it has been a ton of fun to drive. I say it's tons of giggles... Everyone who rides it gets a big smile on their face! It handles well, and has plenty of pickup for a 1000 lb vehicle. It's a lot easier to take the wife along on the RZR too, as opposed to the KLX that is.
Hopefully, my riding buddies won't shun me. I'll bribe them by offering to pack in their gear for them.
Not gonna lie though... I do miss the KLX.
