Default Supermoto Trail Riding

We went out Werewolf hunting again. It just happened to be the brightest full moon since 1996 or something like that. Only this time I had the 17" street wheels on. I was pretty surprised at how they handled. You can totally go trail riding with this bike on 17" wheels. You guys should try it!

We hit up the Terminator 2 drainage channels again. This time there were some sleeping bums under a bridge. I gunned it a couple of times to you know, encourage them to wake up....

Anyway, not much of a story or post but just thought I'd let you guys know that this bike is pretty capable off-road with the supermoto wheels. I can't wait for my new springs this week...

Proof....

Was pretty pricey. $550.

the muzzy? Or the sumo setup? If 550 for the wheels, that's cheap.
I have had my 525 on the dirt a little.... not good...
I got a lot of gravel near my house, and decided I was gunna try and do laps and try to get that sideways skid thing goin on... Once it starts sliding, may as well be on ice.. terrible, mind you the tires were slicks :-)
The KLX I'm sure has more tractable power with sumo wheels on the dirt. 525 just spins with any twist of the wrist.

For the Muzzy. I hear ya on the rear sliding out...

I'd like to do a track day to really learn something. Only been riding since July. I know enough to be dangerous at this point.

Was there a significant difference in power after you installed the Muzzy exhaust? Basically what I'm asking is - was it worth it?

I got the muzzy for my 09 and with that and dynojet kit its worth it, every bit. its not a huge gain but you will be happy, especially if your a lighter weight guy. However you got to go for the full muzzy exhaust the stock header is just too small. It adds a few horses and a better throttle response throughout the gears. You will want to ditch your airbox lid and pick up a better free flowing air filter. If your looking to do more upgrades this is a must have as a first stage. Throw some more down for a pumper carb and the bike will be a whole new beast.

how much did you throw down on the wheels. looks like there excel rims. did you buy just the rims and lace them up? what are the part numbers?

Yeah...with the header it opens up the top end power more. The bike will just love the more rpm's you give it.

It just sucks spending 1/2K just to break 20 horsepower. The 330cc and 350cc kits sound nice...but I'm not sure if I'd actually go for it. Rumor has it that there are some nice bikes coming out in 09.

The guy I went out with the other night was riding a Husqvarna SM610. Really nice looking bike. Though I may consider a DR650 as my next bike. Easy maintenance and it can handle a lot off-road.

I have front and rear springs in the mail as well as about $300 worth of crap coming from RMATV. Most of it tools and stuff, but still.

Don't worry about everyone else. If the bike works for you as stock, then leave it. $500 is a lot of money that could've been put towards the WR250x I really wanted. Add in 300 for new springs...50 for the jet kit...

Meh...the bike is fun, and the grass is always greener on the other side. When you get on the bike and it's not fun anymore, then get rid of it.
