I didnt realize that Nobrakes was using a wrap on his machine. that looks good too But I thought only Harley guys used exhaust wrap.

I have to say that the exhaust wrap was a mistake. Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but it didn't really help with the heat - still easy to burn your leg or pants and it would sizzle and steam when wet which was annoying. Then, when I decided to remove it, I noticed that it had the unexpected side effect of darkening my headpipe, so I don't recommend it. So the exhaust wrap gets two thumbs down from me. I removed the exhaust wrap several months ago, about the time I installed my 300cc big bore kit.

Well I will admit I never thought about it getting wet but your right, it probably would steam and that wouldnt be cool. I did wonder about discoloring the pipe though. If I went with wrap I was going to try and find Black myself. I would of thought it would have helped against pant leg burns. I also didnt see any clamps on yours. Did you use clamps to hold it on?

The wrap would obviously help with direct contact to the pipe - keep your pants from melting directly against the metal, but it actually seemed to make my leg hotter, you could really feel the heat even more, oddly enough.
I did like the looks of it, though. And I don't really care about the darkening of the head pipe but I know some might. Unlike some around here I like my header to look like a header and not an ornament. I think it looks rugged and badass, myself, with a don't f**k with me attitude

I originally used stainless steel wire and did a few twists at the ends of the wrap. But I later put on a clamp at each end.

this is the main difference between the muzzy and the biggun. with the muzzy you have to settle for just a header that, as you say, looks like a header with all it's discoloration and such. but with the biggun, it does the job of a header while staying new looking forever.

I certainly can't speak for everyone but I did not "settle" for anything. I got exactly what I wanted - it is PERFECT for ME. If I would have wanted a Big Gun I would have bought one. Get over the fact that not everyone likes what you like and move on. Hasn't this horse been beaten enough???

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Just how shiny is this Big Gun header? Anyone got a nice close up of their heavily used big gun header? I wanna see what all the hype is about. I really don't care that my Muzzy turned bronze... Just curious.
Cwgoff, nice job on the heat shield.
Any chance you'll post some close up pics of how you mounted that sucker.
And just to tee one up..... the BigGun header is ceramic coated mild steel, hum, whats going to happen when it gets scratched, well it'll rust. Stainless don't rust, even if you dent/scratch it.
Now I'll admit I ordered the BigGun for my ride but my decision was based upon HMFs recommendation due to my soon to be installed 300 cc jug..... I really wanted that green pipe
but the lack of a stainless header was a negative for me....but not much.

Finger Mullet,
Yeah, I am going to post some pics of the mount. Actually, my plan was to take the pics and post this evening, but it is 11:53 and I just got home from a late business meeting, so I am going to choose bed over pitcher takin'.
Tomorrow evening I will take the heat shield off and get some nice close-ups of the clamps and standoffs.
Glad to see that everyone liked this little deal. It was ridiculously simple, so don't expect to be overly impressed once you see it.
Stay tuned.
