Does anyone have one on their 2009 or newer KLX? If so, what kind do you have and how hard was the install? I'm thinking of getting one but I really don't want to drop $500 without knowing how well they work and how hard it is to install.

I have WER damper on all my bikes and the company has various install kits available. My klx has kx500 forks with emig triple clamps(for the 500) and they had an application for it. Easy to install except on many bikes, you need to cut the bottom of the headlight. I had to cut up my acerbis headlight and had to on my yz250 but it didn't come with a factory light anyway. I like the WER because it's out of the way, gives me dashboard room for computers\rollcharts, etc and it truly is a set it and forget it system. Others like to have their dampeners on the dash to modulate them but my experience is that doesn't happen until I'm out of the section and have time. Trailriding is a couple clicks less than a frenetic pace so the dampener works well. All the dampener companies will offer mounting applications for your bike. Good luck!

What are the symptoms Army? I got nothing for you, but I'm curious as to what the bike is doing.

Scotts has the familiar dampener that mounts below where the handlebar crossbar would be. Adjust on the fly but you'd need to have the post welded to the frame for it to work. They also offer a fender mount system like the WER. I think a trick system would be the honda oem dampener...out of the way and unseen.

Thanks guys, I just want to cut down on front end wobble in the ruts. I never did cure it from last year after I changed tires and added a wheel lock (along with counterweights).

I am going to take off the lock and weights and see if it helps but I thought a dampener might really keep the front end feeling tight.

 

Are your forks dropped so the top of the fork caps are pretty flush with the triple clamp? Check sag...if the rear sits too high with the front low, it will cause some headshake. Proper suspension setup, most of the times, gets rid of headshake but some bikes are built with it.

 

There is probably 1/8" of fork showing above the triple clamp. It's not so much headshake I guess, as the front wheel just doesn't feel solid while riding on the trails.

 

How about springs or valving first?
