I find it easier to just skip the all the political back and forth and just stick to talking about bikes. We're all bike nuts, can't we all just get along?
I agree that you don't need to hate TT just because there's people there you don't agree with. Just ignore them, and/or stay away from the political chatter. If it's not bike related, then why bother?

As for talking about politics in this forum - why not? Our bikes run on gas and petroleum is becoming a major political issue these days. Countries are at war over it, people are dying because of it, the world is becoming polluted by it. So yes, it is easy to stick your head in the sand and say just ride your bike and ignore the major element and issues that allow us to ride them.
