Stand alone tuning ECU for KLX250
Hi all,
API guys are testing using of tuning box with 300cc bigbore kit. I requested them to capture the program interface during tuning and Dyno test result. For your update, ECU control injection enough to bigger cylinder with the original injector and pump. Next step, they will tune in the detail on each maps to squeeze the power from the engine as much as it can. We will see the result soon, at least next week.

Sneak peek

Preliminary result

Blue line = D-Tracker250 (KLX250SF) with fixed box
Black line = D-Tracker250 (KLX250SF) with unlimited box
Red line = KLX250F upto 300cc bigbore with 48 tooth sprocket and unlimited box
That does not seem quite correct: 17hp max with 250 bore, less than 18 with 300 bore. These results don't correlate well with others published curves. How would you explain that? I know the Superflow dynos are very reputable ones, but here there seems to be something missing.
Besides, the 300cc has less power than 250cc at high rpm. Could it be that both bikes did not have the same settings, for example in ignition timing.
Also, I would have expected the engine power to be greater than wheel power: the former is taken from the latter, with added amount to account for estimated power loss in the transmission and drive train. I may be wrong here though.

It's my understanding that a stock carb'ed bike makes 16-17 hp at the wheel which would seem about correct to me compared to other bikes I've owned. But all dyno's are different, the engine and the wheel values on the graph do seem mixed up.
Hi all,
I'm sorry I have not clearly description of this result. I request the result to show you for updating. They do not finished the tuning process yet. This is not the complete result to confirm the maximum power of bike, just a sneak peek!!. They deduct some parameter for convenience and time reducing during tuning. In this graph have 2 bikes, D-Tracker250 (KLX250SF) and KLX250F upto 300cc with the bigger sprocket, so you will see the wacky curves.
This is the preliminary result, please wait for the officially result and we will disscuss again.

A few days ago, I bought for my Kawa KLX 250, 2011 a Performance Ecu from Ebay. Now I've heard, that the German Kawa- Ecu is the same Ecu like the fixed Thailand API Ecu. Is there any difference between this both Ecus? I will not install the API Ecu from Ebay until I know, wether it is the right one. Two of my friends are also interested in this Performence Ecu for Kawasaki KLX 250, but they also don't know wether they can buy this one ore not. My Ecu is called API III Tech. Im happy about any answer.

Hi K.r. Wolli205,
We have not any experiance the ECU in your country. Please tell me the name of those ECU or more information. I guess that you bough API fixed box from Thai people. Your ECU may have problem when temp lower than 20 degree Celsius. Because it was developed under Thai climate condition, heat zone. So please contact your seller again because now there is not authorized dealer for outside Thailand fixed box.
Now, Thailand is facing unprecedented flooding following monsoon rains that have left at least 250 people dead elsewhere in the country. I will come back and show the result of API ECU with 300cc bore immediately after situation become normal.

Thank you very much for the answer. I have seen the big catastrophic in TV. I wish that no more people loose their life, or live in a bad situation and it wii come better as soon as possible.
The box is called DTK 250 F-107. I have no more information. The seller comes from UK, but he orderd direktly from Thailand.
Please answer only, if it is possible for you. My problem isn,t so important.

Thank you for your care, Wolli205. I'm lucky that I live in the southern and have not any effect from this flood.
About the German Kawa- Ecu, you mean aftermarket ECU or original ECU from Kawasaki. If you mean to the original ECU, yes it same to the Thai Kawa ECU, your KLX250 made in Thailand (but MAPS data in ECUs were difference because of the climate different). You can absolutely use API fixed box to run your bike and get more power and torque for sure.
Feel free to ask me
