Default sprockets/chain replacement

Hello everyone

I'm getting ready to do my first sprocket/chain replacement on my 07 klx250
I'm still waiting for my parts to arrive so i thought i would start by getting the bike prepped. While taking the chain off
i noticed the space between the wheel and the swing arm was different. The sprocket side is 10mm larger than the disc side. The front and rear sprockets seem to line up perfectly and i have never noticed any problems. Just wondering if this is normal for the KLX.

I'm pretty sure the spacers on my 07 are stamped with a "R" and a "L" (right and left). I never looked to see if one side was larger or not.

Spacers on the 07 are L and R. Get em right or the disc can rub the caliper causing premature wear.

Thanks guys, so as long as the spacers are in on the correct side i dont have to worry about any other adjustments to centre the wheel.

So, where are these markings? Could a guy see them without removing the wheel?

If you got them mixed up, a quick look down the chain from behind the rear sprocket to the counter shaft sprocket should let you know it's wrong.

IF ,,,, I'm remembering correctly , they are stamped on the ends where you can't see them with out having the wheel off. I'm not sure that both of them are even stamped. Too many cobwebs in my head Seems like I couldn't even get the brake disc in the caliper with the spacer on the wrong side.
Full disclaimer on all the above info.

Just so i have this right. If the shims are in on the correct
side and the chain adjusters are matched up. You cant do anymore adjusting to center the wheel.

Thanx, Jamie
