Snow versus Bike
Well its not exactly that way, but I decided after lunch to ride the bike to work, since the roads have completely thawed out and the temps are 40 and above. This is the first time I have gotten to ride the bike to work in a month. As you can see from the first picture, even though the snow is mostly gone, the stuff that slides off the metal roof can really pile up. One year it was about 10 inches away from the lower edge of the roof, which is about 7 and a half feet from the ground.

So as I approached the normal place where I usually park the bike I thought to myself, I wonder if I can push through the snow, I mean after all its melting and can't be that hard right? And besides if I get stuck it might make a great picture.

As I approached the pile I stuck my foot in and thought that maybe I could get through, and I suppose if I would have hit it a little harder I would have gone through.

I guess I will have to throw some grass seed on that in the spring. I hope the guy in charge of maintenance doesn't get upset.......oh wait that's me

Well that's it for the report, it does feel good to ride again to work, especially since Diesel is over 3 bucks a gallon, and I can't afford that for very long.

Well Deej, how did it feel?
Kind of unique . . . . riding through snow. I don't know how that would be!
Sand - yes!
Dirt - yes!
Gravel - yes!
Mud - yes!
Water Crossings - yes!
Snow - NO!
I see it's kind of like riding through sugar sand. When the bike stops, just walk away, it won't fall over!
Thanks for the cool pics!
Deej great pictures... Now here's the question, We all know after you take the KLX off-road it get's a nice bath when you get home but Dose it get a bath after riding in the snow??? lol..

It hasnt been above freezing for some time now...I'd like to bring my bike into work since my Dodge is out of commision and my GMC takes FOREVER to warm up.
But riding on ice isn't fun. at all.

SNOW . . . . . . . . . . . . .
ICE . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
FREEZING TEMPS . . . . .
Ya' know, now I remember why I didn't hesitate to have my company move me to Florida back in 1974!
Now, don't get me wrong, it does get cold here. Heck, I've seen the temps down to almost 35 degrees most winters - in the morning! The coldest it ever got where I live is 18 degrees. That is the morning that most citrus growth stopped in my area. Destroyed a whole lot of groves that morning!
The worst part about winter here is the huge temperature swings. 40's on the way in in the morning and 70's on the way home each night. I mean it's tough but somebody's got to do it.
Right?
