smog system removal
Here is how they do it on old 1950's hot rods.
Drill a hole in the pipe. Weld a nut that has the same pitch and size of the spark plug your going to use. Put said spark plug in threaded hole. Run a 18gauge wire to spark plug and give it power at the moment you want flame to come out.
Start the bike. With the pumper carbs its pretty easy to make them rich just by going to immiediate WOT. apply power to spark plug when black smoke is coming out the tail pipe and watch the flame shoot.
be carefull though. the only difference between a fire and an explosion level of gas in the exhaust and containment.
Explosions are nothing more than a controlled burn in a highly contained space. the gas expansion occures faster than it can be relieved and instead of fire your get boom!!
It is likely in performing such a stunt that you may cause your muffler to explode..

All I can say is that; a forum member who continually ridicules, bully’s, threatens and belittles others but yet emphatically states that he pours almost “half a quart too much oil into his machine” does little to instill confidence.
I read his posts in the same manner I watch Jerry Springer.

Can't you guys find something better to do than this continuing Iowaguy addiction? I usually speak of that affliction in a tongue-in-cheek manner, but I'm beginning to think you two may really have a problem. LMAO
TWO ? ? ? ?
Sooner or later reality WILL set in !!
Its not a "hate Iowa guy thing", you just **** people off. No mystery about it.
Most guys learn quickly to ignore you as needed.

Well, to get this thread back in line... I just removed all the smog crap from my KLX this afternoon. Not difficult at all. Got the caps from Auto Zone as noted on here and did the removal as per a post over on SunCup's site.
While I had the tank off to remove the smog crap, I decided that I'd look at the plug. Might as well and now that it's much easier to get too... well to my surprise I found it so loose I could almost remove it by hand. It was pretty ugly on the tip and on the first few threads. Sucking in a tad of air I guess. I cleaned the plug and reinstalled it. I'm the second owner and I know I haven't touched the plug since I got it. When I got it all back together it cranked right away. Won't know if the plug thing helps or not until tomorrow afternoon in the woods.
je2000 - I don't know how to make flames come out of your exhaust... but last year I grew some little red and yellow peppers that would make flames come out your ***.
