Slight lurch??

Slight lurch??
I occasionally experience a slight lurch (as if the chain or clutch is slipping). New bike (1000 miles) chain and clutch are adjusted properly. The best way to describe it is I'm riding along the street at say 40 mph, and it feels as if the chain jumps a tooth. It doesen't--just feels that way. Not especially violent, just mild.
Any of you had that experience? Thanks.

Could even be a carb surge or lousy gas. With only a 1000 miles I doubt if it's the clutch, sprocket or the chain - have you checked the chain slack? Been doing any real hard riding on it? Done any mods to it yet? Need more info!

Perhaps your air fuel mixture is way off.
I know that a lean bike will have a horrid flatspot in the higher rev range, and bike will sort of sputter and lurch its way along whilst in that flatspot.

sounds like its lean. before i purchased a full pipe i punched the baffles out of the stock pipe. this created a lurch at 6000rpm's due the how lean it was. these bikes come from the factory notoriously lean.

+1 on the better gas. I only ever felt it when the bike was fairly cold. I wait about 1 minute after starting up and then drive slow for a bit. Sometimes I get a tiny studder when giving it gas. Once She's warm though(3 or 4 minutes) she don't miss abeat. I can only seem to get 87, 89 or 93 octane Gas here in NC so I go with 93 and I see a big difference over the 87.
