Default Skid plate 2009 klx250s

Has anyone made their own skid plate for the KLX250?

I hope you're talking about skidmarks from your bike.

To answer the OP, I have a Scorpion skidplate, and I had a Works Connection prior to that. It would be pretty easy to make on like the WC one...probably the Scorpion one too if you're good a that kind of thing.

The nice plates, like my utah, are very cheap to buy with excellent quality welds and thick aluminum. It's a bargain.

I made my own out of 1/4 inch aluminum, it's a little dirty in the picture, but it turned out nice. I made it a little taller than the stock plate to cover the portion of the engine casing which was exposed before. It's also waaay stronger than stock. Used basic tools, it took me a while, and no it probably wasn't worth my time, but it killed a few hours I also added a little plate to cover the water pump over the stock crash bar.

I made one for my "07" Here's the write up https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ication-27266/
The Utah plate is hard to beat for cost, but it is satisfying to make your own stuff. I would have bought one of the Utah plates if I hadn't found a free source for my stock.

Yours looks very nice! However, the problem I see with it is the fact you're relying on the strength of the crash bars. From what I have read online, the crash bars break/bend easily. Additionally, your frame tubes are not protected at all. Once they dent, you've compromised the integrity of the frame itself. Looks like you already have several smaller dents in the tubing...

My Utah (Ricochet) plate is hard to beat, for under $90 shipped.

Very nice Dan888. I like the idea of the paper template. I will give it a shot. Something to do over the winter
