Hey guys, just a quick question for you. Love my KLX but I have the opportunity to pick up an 03 KX 125 for cheap. Just wondering how quick is this bike? The bike had low miles but the previous owner blew the motor. I noticed it had a different exhaust pipe and I think it was run too lean. Is this motor reasonable to have fixed price wise? All the parts are there.

 

buying someone elses headache is never a good idea.you'd be better off using that money on a big bore and some suspension work on your klx.

 

Sounds like a cool project. And after you get it finished, that bike will blow the KLX out of the water.

 

This is just a fun side project! I will get around to doing a big bore on the KLX, probably in the winter though. Just curious how much would a top end rebuild be. Apparently the bike only had about 20 hrs on it. I have seen it and it is very clean.

 

not exactly sure but i would guess $100-$150.

 

5oo dollar basket case put another 5 to 6 in it. and have a cool toy. imo

 

Thanks for the replies guys. I've never ventured into 2 stroke territory but I trailered this bike up country for my buddy and had a long time to look it over. Frame looks very much like the KLX's with a very capable suspension. I'm hoping just to do a top end on it.
