Should I buy the $580 3 year warranty ???
How many of you have used your warrenty? I have just 15 days to decide if i can get another 3 years on top of the one year i have used up. I am worried that "wear and tear" is going to be everything. There is not any cap on the miles on the bike. Any input would be great as to what i should do!
Thanks

Well I have had my bike for 10 months now and am using the warranty from the manufacturer for the noise in my engine see this link. https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_73380/tm.htm Anyway I decided to add the 4 extra year warranty when I bought my bike Mine was only $430.00 for the additional 4 years. So I have 4 years and 2 months left on the whole thing. But I can tell you if I would have waited two more months and not have purchased the additional warranty I would be looking at at least $300.00 so I feel I already made a good decision.
I also bought a 4 year for the wife's bike, I guess I just like the piece of mind that comes with it.

Oh I forgot, I think $580.00 for 3 years is a rip-off, giver me the number to the dealer and I'll call him and ask if he's on crack or something. Unless you are from Canada and then forget everything in this post.

Whoops I looked at your profile and you are indeed from Canada so I guess the $580 is comparable to my $430.00. Sorry I should have did some research first. But I would perhaps get at least the 2 more years added just in case.
Generally speaking I don't buy extended warranties. In reading the Kawi language, about all they cover is anything internal that goes wrong. I figure if it doesn't break in the first year, then it isn't going to. So my goal is to ride it hard the first year and see if everything holds. If you're doing the work yourself, you can buy alot of parts for $580, even if it is $580 CAD which is still over $500 USD. It's basically a 10% insurance policy that I just wasn't willing to shell out. By never taking out extended warranties on anything, it all probably evens out in the end because one of the high ticket items I'll eventually buy will go bad. I just think the extended warranties are overpriced in general.
It's all probability and statistics. If the mfgs didn't make money on extended warranties, I can guarantee they wouldn't offer them. But it's kind'a like gambling - the odds are always in favor of the house, but sometimes you still manage to get lucky and take home a good pot. In Deej's case, it has paid for itself almost, well not exactly since his is still under the 1 year standard warranty, but it's close enough that it could have gone either way.
My theory, deej, is that in all that scrubbing, some soap got through the cylinder cap gasket and fouled your compression release

My dealer (Big Top in Chilliwack BC) said I could buy the extended warranty anytime during the first year.
I didn't ask what the price was though... I seriously doubt I'll buy it. I'm with duvallgold on this one...
I never buy warranties, and the money saved in the end is probably more than enough to fix any problems you might encounter.
