Shorten yer bars
Dunno how many of you have done this yet, and I know that for most of you this is probably standard procedure for all the bikes you buy, but just a bit of a shout...
If you haven't done so yet, shorten your bars a good inch or two.
It makes the bike handle a THOUSAND times better, on road, and off.

I never even thought of that. Can you tell us more about the improved feel & handling?
Also are there aftermarket bars that are shorter?
And BTW.....

I can't with the acerbis bark busters on....you'd never have enough room on the bar to get 'em back on.plus my RAM mount for the gps too....good thought tho if you run without this stuff.

It makes the bike unbelievably more flickable and nible in all terrain.
I was going to cut an inch from both sides of my Renthals when I put them on, but just what truckman said I am also running acerbis handguards and there would have been no way to fit them on there. The handguards were a tight fit with the Renthals the stock length.

Honestly, I don't know a single person who's bark busters fit on their stock bars. Everybody I know who's got a set of aluminium bark busters (these don't have the plastic brush guards on them that you guy's ones do), had to work them a bit just to get them to fit on their STOCK trim bikes.
