Does anyone know if the Shift Star is still the one prone to breakage one the newer KLX250s I am looking at buying a 2013 in a few weeks.

No clue what that is...on another note...u may want to look for a brand new 2012 klx...probably a better deal to be had being a leftover.....and due to crf250l competition

I got the 2012 klx . The shifter bent and scratched the cover when I crashed and still shifts great after i straightened it so yeah I think maybe they changed it otherwise it would have been toast . To be sure just double check .

 

Pretty sure it's still the breakage prone part. I carry the older (better) part on the bike as a spare.
