You know the old saying..."It's better than a sharp stick in the eye". Well...how about a sharp stick in the cheek?...no, no...not the butt cheek...the face cheek.


I tell ya...this kind of thing isn't that unusual. Those who have ridden for many years and especially if you've raced enduros or worked an enduro have probably seen and/or experienced the odd puncture here and there.

 

Agghh! Now that is unpleasant!

 

I was stuck on a mtn for hours with a guy that drove a dead/rotten pine tree top through his shin, between the bones. Ouch! It was pretty gruesome. Not bloody but gruesome. It was totally crazy seeing a 2 1/2" rotten stick coming out of his shin and just pushing at the skin on the back side of the calf! Needless to say we threw the rest of the offending tree down the mountain.
We were mtn biking down a mountain, after riding up it. For various reasons, I rode to the top of said mountain 2 more times before getting to ride down.
BTW, the guy with the stick made a full recovery...and convinced me of the benefits of armor, even when it's hot, even on a bicycle.

 

I just threw up a little.

 

Dang! That makes me REALLY like my face shielded DS helmet. Ugghh.
