"too much" ... yes, if you get no responses over "x" weeks. Given current overall economic conditions, the bike's very narrow market, dealers needing to sell floor stock often desperately, and your local selling environment you may have to sell for less than you owe or wait months for the right buyer.
As a reference I bought my '09 new (well, 200 miles on it, was their "demo bike") last Sept for $3900 + tax + title, done out the door.

Yah, sadly I'm pretty sure it's too much.
I've heard people getting brand new 0 mile ones for about $3,300. Be glad you're not like my buddy who paid $6,500 for his!!!! The dealer saw him coming from a mile away. I'm thinking around $2,900 is a good start to get people interested.
Lesson learned - don't buy new dirtbikes unless you plan on keeping them for a loooong time!

Price is probably high, but you've only had it for sale for a couple weeks, and riding season is just starting. Craigslist is great, but it has a limited reach. Shine it up and put a for sale sign on it out by the street.

But your advertisement, could use a little work. You mention all the negatives about the bike not the positives....oh and I know where you are coming from, I own a ktm 640

Delete current ad. Make new one with a title of "Street Legal Dirt Bike - KLX 250" No problem mentioning the scratches, but say it in a positive light...ie you are a street rider mostly and want a big street bike.....Loose the beginer bike reference........Mention light weight and street legal knobbies .... it will sell
