Default Rubber ring thingy on the front wheel ????

What is the rubber ring that is sandwiched between the front brake rotor and spokes. Is it necessary? What is its job? I am going to be switching between the off road wheels and the supermopto wheels and I was wondering if I need to install the rubber ring on the new supermoto wheels?

Thanks

yeah its for brake vibes/chatter i think. I went ahead and swapped mine over when i did the supermoto rims.... probably un-needed. None of the other bikes i have/had were equipped with them.

Don't be silly. And it's not a disc brake harmonic vibration device either. Everyone knows it's a factory front wheel balancer for speeds above 100mph on the KLX.
