Default Ron Ayers -- beware!

I ordered almost $500 more stuff from Ron Ayers -- 2 days later I found I had to cancel the order (BEFORE it was even shipped).
They canceled the order, but charged a crazy 25 percent (yes, one QUARTER) fee of almost $125 for a re-stocking fee!
I will NEVER order anything from them again -- I will do without first.
That is absurd!
If you order anything from them, you better be REAL sure you might not cancel for some reason.

Yup, that is pretty much with any place on the web that has to do with bikes. They will usually charge a 20% restocking fee, so when you buy something you better commit, or else you still end up paying a butt load of money without recieving anything, [:'(]

I don't see why you're bad mouthing a company when you cancelled the order. Most places even your local dealer charge a 20-25% re stocking fee on special order items they don't have in stock. Now they have to pay somebody to re invintory the items, find a place to put the item(if its an item they don't stock), and if its not a "hot" item they could be stuck with it for years. Its like sending your friend to the store to buy something for you without giving him/her money to buy it, they return with the items you wanted and you change your mind. They can't return the items either so they're stuck with them. I don't know what your circumstances were for cancelling but I'd suggest next time follow through with your purchase. I hope no offence was taken from this either.

The reason it's a bit hard to swallow is that places like Ayers don't stock much of anything themselves. The watch words for online shopping outfits like them is "drop ship it baby!" i.e. they order it when you order it. If you cancel the next day, chances are real good they aren't out a dime in either real money or effort.

Both of you guys make good points, all boils down to "buyer beware".
I understand that I would be pissed if I just lost 125.00. Why did you not just go through with the order once you learned about the restocking fee, I would have.
