Ive done a rejet and a 13T front sprocket and airbox lid removed.

Looking for an exhaust as we speak, if nothing else to make it more fun to ride audibly while I find something else OR make it a "keeper"

That's a good start. You could keep an eye on ebay for a KLX300 exhaust. Opens up the breathing and makes a pleasing sound for not too much cash. This bike does seem to be more entertaining when you remove the stock muffler and it's pencil sized outlet. A new exhaust will make it perkier and give it some bark. It sounded like a small underpowered lawnmower before.

Just put some street tires on the stock rims. you really would only need the 17"s if you were going to be on the track and needed the super sticky sportbike rubber.

Even then there could be the arguement that unless your KLX was modded to the hilt it wouldn't have enough power to really need the sportbike tires anyway.

I'm tarding my S model and 17" rims are LOW on the list of priority. First is BB, then TM36-68, then full exhuast and after that i'll worry about non-performance mods.

I agree with Wildcard, heavyfuel, and Sealsam. The KLX is by far the smallest displacement, least powerful bike I have owned in 20 years but I find its BMX-like ride an absolute blast. *I respectfully suggest that exploring some of the bike's strengths (Power not being one of them) will open up another world of enjoyment not possible on bigger more powerful bikes. *It takes nerves to run WOT through a sweeper, thread between a 3' gap in traffic, bounce over a curb or continue fearlessly when the pavement ends and get far off road. *The KLX was designed for all of these things.

If you still find the power inadequate, it's my understanding that a 351 will take care of the problem...

Doing all the basic bolt ons and the marcelino cam mod will make for an entertaining stock bore klx. I bought this bike for the wife, pre mods it was a dog. After the mods it is my bike of choice around town. I also have a ZRX1200, YZ250 and a plated KDX200, i can appreciated the KLX for what it is and am impressed by its capabilities for the $.

I love riding my little 250sf through traffic and on twisty roads, more fun for me than my old R1 was. I am however looking to trade mine in for a kawasaki KLR650 or a KTM 690 so i can cruise easier on the highway and have more power.

If the electric start didn't need the ACR Kawi would not have put it on.
