yeah, deer + motorcycle = bad news. i was on a ride with some friends a few years ago and a deer ran out in front of my buddy. he ended up with 3 broken ribs, dislocated shoulder, and cut up all over. and bike was trash.

i have actually had a deer run right into the side of the car i was driving. when i stopped you could see where his nose had dragged down the side of the car, luckly, nothing, including the deer got hurt

I had a killer deer of death run out in front of me last week. I was cruising a back country road at about 40mph when I notice brown along side the road. Next thing I know, the brown is about 10 feet in front of me. I was able to scrub off enough speed to where I missed it by about a foot. Talk about getting the heart rate up. I hate deer.[:@]

Deer and other animals - we have bears, gators and large rattlesnakes - are just part of the environment that we all share. You need to be constantly on the watch for them.

I had a similar situation to Konacoiler's. I spotted a movement of brown on the side of the road. I started my braking. There was a car behind me that started to pass me - he hit the deer. I stopped.

Several years ago, I was working out in the hill country of Texas. I had to run to several sites as dusk was setting in. On one leg of my trip, I crested a hill and saw a deer herd, half grazing on one side of the road, the other on the other side of the road. As soon as I spotted them I was hard on the brakes. Deer, as any other herding animal run together at the first sign of danger. It looked like "Deer Central Station" ahead. As I brought the rental car to a stop, there was a solitary doe that wanted across the road. I waited and waited for her to move - she did not. I started to go and so did she. Ran right into the side of the rental car, got knocked down, stood up, snorted her indignation at me and then ran off. There was no damage to the side of the car - thankfully! You can not predict where the deer will go, just be ready for them.

Now, that's a deer!

Our around here look like a Great Dane with a set of antlers on them. If they go 160 undressed, it's a decent sized deer!

Glad we don't have many deer here, we just have roos which are more than likey similar in actions apart from they hop into you rather than run.
Wombats which are like hitting a 100 lb brick ... hold on a brick is soft compared to a wombat, think of a 100 lb furry tank.
Just to name a couple of things to hit [&:]
