Default RE: Replacement Battery....

No battery yet, bought the bike new in November of 05 and I ride it almost every day, I also put it on the battery maintainer a few days a week when I'm not riding it. I think that adds to the life of the battery and how well it takes a charge.

From what I've been searching, its a hard battery to find without paying an arm & leg for one.

Nope, mine hasn't dead, yet!!!. But I have drained it dead a few times in the winter trying to start the engine.

Default RE: Replacement Battery....

The stock battery has proven to be a tough ****....two years old, multiple full drains (ie I had to use my kickstarter) yet with my battery tender DVD-40 charger it always came back to life like new....very impressed.

btw my dvd-40 is no trickle charger it's a 40 amp, dual bankcharger /conditioner I use on my bote and customers... but if a battery can be rehabilitated it will do it. Kinda scary on the lil klx battery....I swear it gets smokin hot...lol.

But I do put it under a vented splash box ..... just in case.

I had no problems all winter long with the battery, used a maintainer, started it every week or two and would take a short run around the block when it was over 40 degrees.

About two weeks ago, it decided to give up. I checked for a draw of some sort and found nothing, tested the charging system, it was OK, but it failed the load test miserably.

Maybe just one of those things, got the bad one of the bunch.

Anyways, as LearJet said, they certainly aren't economy priced. Anywhere from $45.00 to $110.00. The majority over $75.00. I ended up getting an Interstate. They have a retail location on my way home from work and I was willing to pay a little more for the convenience of not having to wait 3 to 5 days for it to arrive. It cost me about $74.00 with tax.

If Interstate motorcycle batteries are like their automotive batteries. Then they are built by Johnson Controls.

Yeah, I was just looking at the Interstatemotorcycle batteries. They are also AGM (absorbent glass mat) technology, which can be deep cycled a gazillion times without issue. Also, theircold cranking amps and residual capacity are as good or better than stock.
