Default Repack after 10 hours?

I have the tbr on my bike and today I took off the p4 tip and arrestor and went for a ride just to see how it sounded. I noticed it was real sharp and had a crackle to it instead of the original deep thump. So I went to tbrs website and looked at repacking, every 10 hours? I think that's kinda much for a commuter? I have probably 2500 miles on the system. But I went ahead and did a couple searches about steel wool. So I put that in there and I might say it turned out quiet well. Without the arrestor it had a sharp note, so I put the p4 and arrestor in and I'm pretty content. Looking at the packing I pulled out it was very compacted and slammed towards the outer wall of the casing. Taking up only like half the volume. Just a heads up,

Was the steel wool a repack kit or something you made? Details please as I'm trying to tone mine down too. Thanks

Maybe repack after 10 hours is something they recomend to ward off complaints about not meeting claimed perfomance specs as far as dB reduction. Kind of a fine print.

Like junk food mfrs putting nutitional values on products based on tiny serveing sizes.

On the repacking note maybe I should repack my muzzy. The bike has 10K on it and muzzy must have at least 8000 miles. Deej have you ever repacked yours?
Cheers Jim

Well my exhaust wasnt sounding like it used to. I wanted to take my p4 tip off and run it like it was out of the box, but it was really raspy and crappy. So i took the end cap off and pulled the packing, it was blown out. So i just bought some steel wool from wally world and it back to what it was like maybe a little mellow-er. It still has kind of a "crack" without the silencer tip in.

Every 10 hours?!!!! What the freak? Dude the Muzzy went 10,000 miles and it still looked new when I took it apart. In fact the guy on the phone told me I was wasting my money ordering one. Oh well.

I would estimate that the Muzzy could go 20,000 miles before a re-pack was needed.

I blew the packing out of my Muzzy twice in 1 season, about 5000 km, mostly woods.

I just hit 10,000 on the bike this weekend muzzy was on the bike when I got it at 3000 so just for good measure I think I will repack at 12000 along with other service.
